Their connection was instantaneous, and they were paired up in the class, embarking on a journey that would last a lifetime. On April 1, 1993, Val proposed to Robin, and they were married in a beautiful ceremony on May 29, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by their children, his grandchildren, family, and friends. Val and Robin shared a deep love for dancing and traveling together, exploring new places and creating unforgettable memories. He enjoyed playing and cuddling with his dogs and cats as well as horseback riding with Robin on his beloved horse, Mr. Checkers.

He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he honed his skills in teaching gospel principles with a powerful and inspiring approach. In retirement he served in the Las Vegas Temple weekly until his health started to decline. Genealogy was another passion of Val's. He made countless contributions to his own family history and the histories of others. He was a great supporter of the Sharp Family Reunions.
Above all, Val cherished his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he found immense joy in the numerous reunions and visits they shared.
