2 years.. seems like yesterday, seems like a lifetime! Our warmest memories are very long lunches in Palm Springs and longer visits at Father Sky Drive, talking about everything. I miss her presence, encouragement and most of all Book Talk❤️  We cruised by Rocky Landing yesterday to pay tribute to this incredible friend.

Ferris was a dear lake sister…

Ferris was a dear lake sister. I had so much respect for her, & modeled my parenting style after her own, (which she told me not to do!) I looked up to her, & loved her as ‘Ferd.’

She took my daughter into her heart & gave her tons of love which helped build her confidence.

Salt of the earth. Friend. Toddy.

And her laugh! I think of her & miss her often.

Loved our time with the famil…
Loved our time with the family in 2017. Thinking of you all. Miss you Aunt Ferris xxx
I can never repay the joy that Ferris gave me as a book lover.  She shared at the airport gatherings, on Instagram , on zooms in covid, always and everywhere, from AZ to dear Douglas Lake, though I am a Burt Laker!  Her person was a gift, her love of family and friends and that incredible overconsumption of the best literature were gifts....and then to share it!! We all just waited for her latest to guide the wonderful escape to books!! Her very valued suggestions. I can see her family is the same in sharing her caring pages.  I know you had the very biggest love anyone could have, and that...remains.  I am sorry you had to give her over. She fought and lived larger than most. I was honored to know her.  Carry on,  Karen Jallos
The memorial was beautiful.  I was so lucky to call Ferris a  friend from Coe! The beginning and ending poems read  last night were amazing and I'd like to get a copy if possible please. Thank you and hugs to all. Husak@charter.net

Ferris and I became friends at Carleton Washburne in Winnetka. I still remember overnights at her house, with the grandfather clock on her stair landing and donuts for breakfast on Saturday mornings. But what I remember most was Ferris’s smile, beautiful long hair, high intelligence, and sense of humor. She knew how to be a good friend even in middle school, which is no small feat for a girl at that age. Although we attended different high schools, we reconnected in Boston during our graduate school years. I always valued her insights, quick wit, and the deep quality of our conversations. She had many traits I admired and respected, and there is so much to miss about her.

2005, Driving to MCC for my design class.
As I drove on 390 to MCC I received a call from Ferris telling me she had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I remember how it struck me and I began to cry. I had experienced the loss of family but never a good friend. I don't know if I would have fought as hard as she but she had so much to live for and she made the most of her long journey with dignity and bravery. I know that Ferris had many friends, people she knew much longer than me but she had a way of always making you feel that you were the most important friend she had! I loved her soul and being and I will miss her greatly!
My condolences to all- I know you all hold many wonderful memories as I do! I feel her with me and that makes me smile.
