No words can ease your pain, no prayers can calm your soul. But I hope knowing you are not alone in your grief, brings you some comfort. I am so, so sorry for your loss
Jay Hohmann
2002, Sheboygan, WI, USA
Trevor was one of the funniest people i have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. He helped me get a job at New York on 8th back in 2002 about a year and change before i left for the army and we spent many days together sharing stories and philosophies about life, the universe and everything.

One day, a rather disagreeable gentleman came into the cafe. He ordered a coffee and sat at his table for about 45 minutes nursing the coffee and occasionally muttering some sort of comment about the state of the world from the perspective of old white racism. At one point, while perusing his paper, he yelled the phrase “those goddamn wetbacks.”

I could tell at this point that Trevor had had enough. He dropped what he was doing and grabbed a plate, a paper doily, some powdered sugar, and set them swiftly on the table in front of him. He then proceeded to eject a used coffee ground puck from the espresso machine. He placed the puck onto the doily on the plate and then set about garnishing it with powdered sugar and chocolate. Once it was ready, he winked at me and took the dish out to the gentlemen.

I stopped washing dishes and leaned out of the kitchen to watch the chaos. Trevor, in his charismatic and completely professional servers demeanor, offered the plate to the gentleman as an opportunity to try a new desert we were concocting.

That guy ate the whole thing. He told Trevor it was too bitter and that we should add scotch to it. Then he left and never came back.

Ive had circumstances throughout my career where certain levels of tact and charisma are a necessity, and some of them have involved people that make me want to say “puck it.” Trevor’s composure in the face of scrutiny during a prank set the bar for me in all future endeavors. There are thousands of other ways that he brought joy to my life as a friend. He drove me to my first wedding and was one of my groomsmen. He was kind enough to offer me an out that morning that I probably should have taken him up on what with his “tux, full tank of gas, and nothing firm on our dance cards for the day.”

Im sorry we grew apart, and i miss him.
