Treedeen's obituary

Treedeen Ann (aka Amata) Tether, 79, of Stockton, CA passed away on September 26th, 2025 surrounded by loving family. Treedeen was born October 9th, 1945 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Colin Tether and Teressa (Biamonte) Tether. Treedeen graduated from Valley Central high school in Montgomery, New York in 1963. After moving to California a few years later, Treedeen joined the Peace Corps and served in Ethiopia, assisting malnourished children in the region. On return from her assignment in the 1970s, she became a nun and joined a convent on the beautiful Northern California coast. In the 1980s Treedeen left the convent and earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) in Gerontology at San Francisco State University.

Treedeen dedicated her career to geriatric care and assisting the elderly in San Francisco as a Quality Assurance Compliance Officer for the SF Family Service Agency from 1995 until her retirement to Stockton, California in 2015. Treedeen was an avid reader, and as an active member of her book club she filled her home with books she bought, borrowed, and traded over the years. She enjoyed all types of sports, and faithfully rooted for her San Francisco Giants and 49ers. As an early adopter of technology, she was among the first to embrace microcomputing and personal computers, starting with the Commodore 64 and original Apple Macintosh computers that she used during her college years. Her interests in technology and investing combined as she became an investor in cryptocurrencies and enjoyed day trading her stocks.

Treedeen is survived by her sister, Colinda (Tether) Brazil, and her nephews, Kelly Jon Brazil (Victoria Ann Brazil) and Darin Dean Brazil (Athena Grace Brazil). Treedeen’s niece, Deidra Terese Romuar, preceded her in death in 2013. Treeden also has eight grand nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.

A private memorial will be held with the family to honor Treedeen's life. Cards and flowers can be sent to Colinda Brazil at 8700 West Ln UNIT 207, Stockton, CA 95210.
