Travis's obituary

Travis Vaughn Williamson

Born: November 10, 1976 in Austin, TX

Died: February 14, 2026 in Carrollton, TX

With heavy hearts, the family of Travis Vaughn Williamson, age 49, shares of his unexpected passing on February 14, 2026. Having just talked to his wife Melissa minutes earlier, he was instantly welcomed into the arms of Jesus due to an automobile accident while traveling home. Celebrations of Life will be held in Amarillo at Tascosa HS cafeteria on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 2p-5p, and another in Corinth at Lake Dallas HS cafeteria on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2p-5p.

Born in Austin to Kelly and Diane Williamson, Travis had one of the biggest hearts anyone could know. He was always quick to help anyone in need, including strangers, and truly had a servant's heart.

Travis grew up in the Austin area until middle school, attending elementary schools in Del Valle and New Braunfels. His family later moved to Amarillo, where Travis attended Crockett Middle School and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1995.  Growing up, he played baseball, football, wrestled, and was a cheerleader. After graduation, Travis first attended Amarillo Community College and was a DJ on the college's FM-90 radio station.  Then he went to Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, where he was a cheerleader and member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

On December 17, 1999, he met Melissa at Midnight Rodeo in Amarillo. It was truly love at first sight. They were married 17 months later, on May 17, 2001. Soon after they met, Travis joined Osage VFD/Randall County Fire Rescue as Melissa was already a member there, and they worked countless calls side by side until relocating to Corinth. Travis was always a hard worker, often balancing multiple passions and pursuits in both career and family. When they met, he was working for ADT Security and then with his father in construction. He was an entrepreneur and dreamer. Travis had started DJ'ing in high school and then established his own business, 929 Entertainment. He even DJ'd their own wedding. Travis helped start the limousine service at The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo. While still living in Amarillo, he and Melissa were very active volunteers in the fire service, as storm chasers for the National Weather Service, with the American Red Cross, and the Big Boo haunted house.

After moving to the DFW area at the end of 2004, Travis worked for AVW-TELAV (now Freeman Audio Visual), Texas Instruments, and a few other jobs before ultimately finding his passion and calling in Residential and Commercial Real Estate Inspections. Upon completing home inspector training through RETS in Dallas, Travis was immediately hired by Super Inspector, where he was just one week short of celebrating 12 years of service. He had just completed a record 500 inspections in 2025. Travis and Melissa rekindled their volunteer work in the DFW area after attending a National Marriage Encounter weekend retreat. They both loved to cook and serve others, so they started as the kitchen couple for the weekend retreats. As they continued their Encounter with each other, they soon became a presenting couple for the weekend retreats, then served on the Board of Directors for the North Texas chapter, including as Executive Couple. Travis and Melissa's love for all kinds of music was a perfect match for their next volunteer adventure. For nearly 20 years, they dedicated countless hours each summer, volunteering with the North Texas Fair and Rodeo in Denton. Travis took pride in helping lead a crew of volunteers, verifying IDs, affixing wristbands, and creating a welcoming experience for all.

After several heartbreaks, God finally blessed Travis and Melissa with an amazing son, Clayton Vaughn, on October 13, 2015. Clayton loves his Daddy endlessly, just as Travis adored and cherished him. They loved wrestling in the floor, listening to music, sharing funny videos and memes, laughing at bad jokes, and checking out any and all classic cars, cool trucks, and other fast automobiles. Travis was always immensely proud of Clayton and Melissa; he was always their biggest cheerleader in everything they do. The family enjoyed many adventures traveling to surrounding states and exploring new places, even close to home.  They rarely passed up an opportunity for good live music and often planned weekend getaways for concerts.

Travis is survived by his grandmother Betty Groomer of Amarillo; his mother Diane, his loving wife of 25 years, his 'Lifetime Stand', Melissa, their greatest pride and joy, their 10 year old son Clayton Vaughn, and his mother-in-law Elizabeth "Becky" Woods, all of Corinth; aunts: Karen Williamson Allison and Donna (husband Bobby) Sutton all of Amarillo, Audrey Fontenot, Linda Wells, Jeannie (husband Milton) Verret, Michelle (husband Ronnie) Toney, and Barbara (husband Chuck) Goudeau, all of Louisiana; sister-in-law Juannah (husband Andy) Woods Brice of Amarillo, and numerous cousins, extended family, and countless friends.

Travis is preceded in death by his father Kelly Vaughn Williamson; half-sister Samantha Renee Franks; paternal grandparents Jay & Jean Williamson, Chester Williams, and John Groomer; maternal grandparents Joseph Richard and Gladys & Leo Vasseur; six angel babies; and several beloved pets.

His love, laughter, and servant's heart will live on in all whose lives he touched.
