Tony Michael Sneed

Tony Michael Sneed, 79, passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2026, in Columbia, NC
He was born November 28, 1946, in Mexico, MO, to Sam E. Sneed and Gladys E. (Burson) Sneed of Centralia, MO.
Tony was senior class president and a 1964 graduate of Centralia High School where he lettered three years in football and track.
Tony was drafted into the US Army at age nineteen. He went to officer’s candidate school and served in military unit, 1st Battalion 39th Infantry and was stationed at bases in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Fort Dix, New Jersey, Ft. Benning, Georgia and Baumholder, Germany. His highest rank was 1st Lieutenant. His greatest military achievement was his expert infantry badge. After his service as an infantry officer – company commander, he returned to Centralia and was employed by A.B. Chance for thirteen years, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Columbia College, Columbia, MO.
Tony was an excellent storyteller and a “true” salesman, for the electrical utility industry, for many years. He would entertain anyone who would stop long enough to listen; always making and keeping lifelong friends along the way. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, camping and surf fishing. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren!
Left to be remembered by, his wife of thirty-five years, Dianne Sneed, and four children: Erin Pool (Bob) of Monroe City, MO, Sam Sneed (Kari) of Kansas City, MO, Jade O’Connell (Kevin) of Bankston, IA, and Jillian Muccino (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL, ten grandchildren plus one due in April, and his beloved brother Edward (Myrna) Centralia, MO.
There will be no viewing or service per the family’s request.
A Prayer Service, Military Honors, and Celebration of Life will be held at the Bellevue American Legion Hall- 111 Market St., Bellevue, Iowa 52031 on May 16. Friends and Family may greet the family starting at 10, followed by a 12 P.M. prayer and memorial service. Following the service, Military Honors will be presented by the Bellevue American Legion at the Freedom Rock on Riverview, followed by light refreshments and sharing our fondest memories of Tony back at the Legion Hall.
