Tomiko's obituary
Tomiko lived an extraordinary life rooted in culture, discipline, and adventure. She shared her passion and strength as a karate instructor, empowering others through her teaching and quiet resilience. She also expressed her heritage beautifully through traditional Japanese dance, carrying forward the art and spirit of her culture with elegance and pride. A traveler at heart, Tomiko saw the world and embraced life fully, always curious, always learning, and always connecting with the people around her.
Above all, Tomiko was love. She loved fiercely and generously, offering warmth, wisdom, and encouragement to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her presence was steady and grounding, yet vibrant and inspiring.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara Duncan; her brothers, Minobu Miki and Keizaburo Miki; her nieces, Tami Leshaw and Mika Miki; her nephews, Leo Miki and Harukata Miki; and her cherished grandchildren, Kendra Thiry and Sav Thiry. Her legacy lives on in the strength, compassion, and resilience she instilled in her family.
Tomiko’s life was one of courage, artistry, endless learning, and boundless love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
