Tom's obituary

With sadness, the Ward family shares the loss of their beloved Tom Ward. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Catherine Ward, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles. While we feel his spirit remains with us, his physical form leaves his wife Pam, daughters Casey (Jeff), Annie (Cody), sisters Sandi (Jerry) and Jeane (George), his beloved friends David (Sally) Wingard, Brad (Becky) Brehmer and Art (Roseanne) Preciado. We would be remiss if we did not mention his furry friends that will miss him equally: Oliver, Dobby, Bandit, Chuy, Wrigley and Rosie. We find comfort that his spirit is with the many furry friends that he loved dearly throughout his life.

Tom was born in the small town of Delphi, IN. He loved his childhood and family but his heart yearned for bigger cities and he quickly moved out of IN. As a lover of the finer things in life, he lived in San Francisco, Sausalito, Vail, Seattle, Death Valley, Sequoia National Park and Chicago. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. Though his heart was filled through nature’s wonders, his ultimate love for his family led him to settling in Cincinnati where he spent his final 33 years of life. He spent his career serving others in financial services and in the finest restaurants of the beautiful cities he lived in.

Tom was the type of person who kept his deep emotions close to his heart. He was a beautiful person, and you felt blessed when you got to see his unbridled self. Despite his difficulties in communicating his emotions at times, he was always able to be kind to strangers and do his best to make them laugh. His unique sense of humor and how he carried himself remains imprinted in the memories of those who were lucky enough to know and love him.

His hearing impairments and inner belief of his inadequacies kept him from hearing how special and deserving he was of the love in his life. He often worried about not providing enough to his family, without realizing that what they wanted most was him. We love you so much Tom, and hope in death that your soul allows you to see the same in yourself.
