I cannot begin to express the sadness I felt upon hearing about loosing Tom. I send my deepest condolences to Kim, Caroline and the family. I have so many memories with him in them. When I first met Tom, we lived in New Jersey. We rode the same bus to school. When he moved first to Belleville IL. our family followed soon after. He was the one who just took me under his wing and introduced me to everyone. He was one of my best friends in high school. He was such a good friend to me and so many others. He was popular and charming and we all adored him, but he was especially kind. I pray you all will find comfort and strength as you continue forward without him.
Tom’s family, I’m so sorry for your loss.
My deepest condolences 💐
RIP Tom.

Tom was always so kind to our family! He always welcomed us into his home and treated us like family! We will sure miss the great conversations we got to have and his smiling face. He was always so interested in hearing how the kids were doing with their sports and offered words of encouragement and even followed on facebook to keep up with their sporting activities and congratulate them on a job well done. We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know him and be around him when we were. I want to say to Kim, Carolyn, Austin, Garrett, Quinnlyn, and Callahan and other family that I am so very sorry for your great loss and am thinking of you and praying for you all. May the Lord give you and your family courage and strength to keep you going through this tough time.
Dear Kim and Family,
I am so sorry about Tom. Words cannot begin to express the sadness and sense of loss you must feel. Tom left us way too early. Miriam and I will be praying for you and your family during this time. I wanted to write some of my thoughts about Tom below.
With All my sympathies,
Dan Malinaric

Tom Roff – an accomplished leader and family man
Tom was a good man. I had the privilege of working with him for 5 years during the start-up of Fab 5 and then working directly for him for almost 15 years. Tom took his job seriously, but as he rose through the ranks, he never took himself too seriously. He always had an easy smile even when he was the subject of the joke. That was especially true if it was being told by Bill Markland, who made a career of teasing Tom. Bill once joked that Tom was the first in his family to not walk on all fours. Tom just laughed. It was just good-natured teasing hiding a strong friendship. It was one of many that characterized Tom’s work life. People naturally liked Tom. They trusted him. They knew that he wanted to do the right thing for the company – and for the people who worked with him and for him. Tom always had a positive word and a positive report to give. He worked for some difficult people, but he never let those people change who he was or how he treated others. Even when things were not going well, he looked for the silver lining. Even if he was not sleeping well, he never complained. He trusted the people who worked for him and allowed them to grow. He was not looking for credit for himself. He was always willing to give that away. Fab 5 started up in 1995. Tom was the Production Manager during the start-up, the second Fab Manager, and eventually Vice President. He is a big reason that site, now owned by Microchip, is still thriving.
Tom was a private person, but it was clear he loved his family. He was proud of his dad. He loved his wife, Kim. You could tell by the easy way he talked about her or the respect with which he treated other women. It was clear that he loved his sons Austin and Garrett just from the stories that he told about them or what they were doing. Despite all his professional accomplishments, Tom was the proudest of his family.
I am grateful for the opportunities that Tom gave to me. He trusted me. He gave me a lot of freedom to grow and develop as a leader. Even when I was approaching some things differently than he would have, he always had my back. He always supported and encouraged me and gave me the resources we needed to succeed. I will miss him.

With all my sympathies,
Dan Malinaric

I am so very saddened to learn of this . I am shocked beyond words. He was a wonderful person, especially to my son, Mark. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
As with everyone else that knew Tom, I was so saddened by this news. We were great friends when we were younger and would hang out at the Roffs because his parents were so fantastic. I remember Lisa Brueggemann (RIP) and Paula Speer and I would make homemade taffy and take it over to the Roffs…..I don’t know why that memory sticks out, but it does. Those Lincolnshire days were the best!!! I can also clearly still see Kim and Tom walking through the halls of Belleville East and my heart breaks. So many prayers for all of the family and to all of the people whose lives were lucky enough to cross paths with Tom.
We were so surprised to hear about Tom. I would always follow him on Facebook. And say now that guy is enjoying his retirement. I am still in shock over this. Tom was such a amazing person and loved by many. He will be so missed… our heart goes out to Kim and her boys. You are aways on our mind. Love Pawenski’s
Tom was our son-in-law, deeply respected and loved. He was always ready to give a helping hand to any cause. Socially, Tom was most comfortable behind the scenes, but was front and center in the kitchen where he planned and prepared many gourmet feasts with passionate dedication.
Our first encounter with Tom was in the late 1970's when he loudly "banged" on our front door excited to know the status, etc. of our daughter after she had a cheerleading accident . We were impressed with his concern!
Soon thereafter we were privileged to know and socialize with his loving parents, Carolyn and Col. Tom Sr.
One of our fondest memories was of a visibly nervous Tom requesting permission to marry our daughter which took place at a local Mexican restaurant. Tom did things by the "book".
Gone way too soon in life, we will always remember Tom as a true family man, responsible son-in-law and sincere humanitarian.
(I will miss our 5:00 p.m. "Jack")
Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

-Love your NHS Family

We recently spent vacation with Tom, Kim, family, and friends. It was such an enjoyable break from the last year and great memories were made. Tom, you were like a bonus dad to many of us growing up and I've replayed countless memories in my head over the last few days. Thank you for always being there for me, Frank, Tegan, and the Ramblewood Gang. My favorite memories are road tripping to baseball tournaments and watching you, Bill, Walt, Ron, and the Moms mold these boys into strong confident men. You are loved and will be missed!
