As many others have said, Tom was such a kind, patient gentleman. His soft spoken ways and concern for others were so admirable. In addition, he was an excellent teacher, college professor, and respiratory care professional. He changed many student’s lives and was a joy to all those who came in contact with him in the educational system and as a friend. And the bonus was Tom brought Linda into your world, a wonderful partner and colleague. Along with many others, I will miss knowing that Tom Reid is in the world making it a better place. But his legacy and example will live on. Heaven has a very special new resident.
I have such fond memories of you and Tom while I was growing up in the Keys. Tom was always so kind and patient. There was always a smile on his face. It was wonderful reconnecting with you both in recent years. I’m so glad my kids had the opportunity to meet you both and wish we could have been together again this past November as planned. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
I met Tom thru you. You guys are the true love story. You both are so loving, caring and giving. Perfect example was you guys surprised me when you came to my dad's funeral. You didn't even live in PBC. You were on your way home and diverted to pay your respects. I was so happy to talk to yall and hear the stories.
Linda, I am so saddened to hear about Tom. He was a class act and such a fine human being. I loved his art of being so soft spoken, witty and just fun to be around. What a great day it was back in 1978 when we sailed into Tarpon Lodge and found the best friends ever. It has been a pleasure and a joy to have spend all the years since travelling together and visiting each other in our homes while enjoying Tom. Eb and I always loved being with you, as your love and devotion to each other always shined so brightly. I would like to believe that he and Eb are somewhere snorkeling for conch or lobster and telling each other stories. I know there will be tough times ahead but I also know they will be softened by having had such a wonderful man in your life. My thoughts are with you.
I remember Tom came to every event at work for Linda smiling. So proud of his love. Also when he retired and cooked all the wonderful things Linda would tell us about. I know he will be missed. Our love to you Linda
I met Tom and Linda 20 years ago with my dear friend Mariana. So many memories!! I always remember the best couple, with a long life of love and adventures. We will meet again some day Tom!
Tom (and Linda) stayed with us at our Puerto Viejo and Heredia lodging establishments many times over the years. They even brought friends to stay at times. We became fast friends right from the start, and would visit with them every time they came to Costa Rica. We even went to visit them for a memorable week in Florida. Each visit, whether long or short, was always a joy. I’ve never met anyone quite so personable or filled with such a joy in life. He will always have a big place in my heart. Adios amigo.
Tom was the consummate gentleman. We met on the 2011 Semester at Sea voyage.
He loved his wife, Linda, to the moon and back. His eyes glistened when he was looking at her.
We spent time in India and South Africa connecting with the people and animals. He loved to capture spectacular settings with his camera and his creativity.
The students enjoyed Tom and his steady demeanor with thought provoking ideas!
Tom made a difference in the lives of others simply being the kind man he was.
His life showed us the way and made the world a better place!
I met Tom through Linda and his sister Norma. Every time I would see him and Linda, he was always smiling. Friendly and brought stories of his sitter Norma (a prior co-worker) and her children. He loves telling about their lives and their achievements. Learning of this loss brings sadness. Also a smile, knowing he would want the stories he told and his smile to live on. His legacy his smile. His wife Linda and his family. The adventures they shared were shared for all with post cards or a fun gift they brought back from their adventures. In fact I just reached out to Linda about the Clove's they gifted to me. They were amazing and made our ham at the holidays extra special.
Tom is gone but he will never be forgotten. Sometimes we get the opportunity to meet an individual who really wants to help humanity. That was Tom Reid, he's touch so many lives for the and always see the good in people. I will miss you Tom.
