Tom's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tom Mello, age 77, on November 7th, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.
Tom was Born June 6th, 1946, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Herbert and Adeline Mello. He was the loving older brother to Janet and Patricia. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nevada – Reno in 1969 and a master’s degree in Banking from Louisiana State University in 2000. He had a distinguished career in banking and financial leadership.
Tom was a proud veteran serving ten years with honor in both the Air Force and Coast Guard, exemplifying his dedication to our nation. His legacy of service will be remembered for generations.
In addition to his professional achievements, Tom touched many lives through his boundless generosity, profound wisdom, and a sense of humor that could brighten the darkest days. He also had culinary prowess, which he shared with loved ones. His scallop and shrimp pasta was a perpetual favorite.
Tom will be remembered for his military service, charitable endeavors, exceptional woodworking, unbridled adoration for his family, and profound impact on those fortunate to have known him.
Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Adeline, and his sister, Janet. He is survived by his father, Herbert Mello, his sister, Patricia Mello, his beloved children, Nicole Mello, Justin Thomas Mello (Amanda), and Kristin Johnston (Brian), His beautiful grandchildren, Alyssa (17), Caden Thomas (3), and Owen (due to arrive in the coming weeks), and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity, a cause that held a special place in Tom's heart, reflecting his commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
