Tom's obituary
El Dorado Hills, CA resident Tom Kosena, passed away Feb 10, 2023 at the age of 74, after a 4-year courageous battle with cancer. In Tom’s final days he was surrounded by his family and friends that he loved so much. Tom was born in Anaconda, MT and preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marian Kosena. Tom attended St. Paul's Grade School, graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1966 and from Carroll College in 1970.
Tom married Charlotte from Rancho Cordova, CA, in Missoula, MT, in 1980. Tom is survived by four beautiful children, and five amazing grandchildren. Chris (Erin) of Missoula, MT, Marcus (Hsiang-Yi) of Portland OR, Cathy (John) of El Dorado Hills, CA, and Kimberly of El Dorado Hills, CA. Grandchildren include Madeline, Allison, Elliot, Nora, and Maya. Tom is also survived by his brother Jim (Patsy) and their three children Kevin, Craig, and Jamie.
After graduating from Carroll College, Tom joined New York Life in Denver, Co. In 1973, He joined the Buttrey Suburban group in Butte, MT. Tom then returned to Anaconda as Manager of the store Fargo, Wilson and Wells of Pocatello, ID. He transferred to Oak Harbor, WA where he managed their retail store until 1978. Returning to Montana, Tom owned and operated Leisure Trail Sports, a ski and bicycle store in Missoula. In 1981 he joined the City of Missoula and became an active member of the Missoula Redevelopment Agency and United Way. In 1992, Tom joined Charlotte in developing a National Sales Area across the country with Mary Kay, Inc. In 2000, Tom became the Regional Sales Manager of ASKO Appliances based in Dallas, TX and Vara, Sweden. Tom and Charlotte relocated to EL Dorado Hills, CA in 2002 to be closer to family. Tom retired from ASKO in 2013.
Tom was passionate about golfing, helicopter skiing, and sailing. He loved sharing his passions with his family. Tom and Charlotte traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, Mexico and Hawaii. He was loved by the girls softball team that he coached for many years. Tom also loved working around the home completing many landscaping projects.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Tom fought courageously with family and friends at his side. Tom will be interned at the Missoula City Cemetery, in Missoula, MT. A Celebration of Life will take place later this summer.
