Tom's obituary

 Tom Byron Goss, 72, of Oakley, California, passed away with his son by his side on January 20, 2024. The last few days of his life he was surrounded by family and friends at his home in Oakley.  Tom was born on May 2, 1951, in Antioch, California. Tom was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and Uncle.  He was known affectionately as Papa by his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Tom was a dedicated and loving father. He cherished spending time with his children, Cyndie Bliss, Michelle Medrano, Tommy Goss, and daughter-in-law Laticia Goss.  Whether it was going out on the boat, attending races, or cheering them on at sporting events, Tom was always there for his kids. His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he relished in the time spent with each of his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Tom had a special bond with his grandkids and was known for being a fun and caring Papa.  In his younger years, Tom enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and water skiing. Throughout his life, he had a passion for fishing, hunting, and car races. These hobbies brought him peace and fulfillment. Tom began his career at the U.S. Steel Mill before transitioning to work for the City of Antioch. He dedicated many years of service to his community before retiring seven years ago. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Shadow Lakes Golf Course in Brentwood, California. The services will be a reflection of Tom's vibrant and joyful life. The Higgins Funeral Home in Antioch, California, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Along with his children, Tom leaves behind his sister, Lona Chance, sister-in-law, Wanda Goss, stepmom Loraine Goss, stepbrother Mark Goss, stepsisters Debbie Stephenson and Brenda Wittenbauer.  Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Sandow, father, T.L. Goss, and brother, Mike Goss.In this time of loss, may we remember Tom as a loving father, an amazing grandfather, a wonderful uncle, cherished brother and an incredible friend. May his memory forever live on in our hearts.
