Tim's obituary

Timothy John Westwood (Tim), died August 23, 2023 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice, FL. A resident of Venice, FL since 2020, he was born to Leroy & Florence Westwood in Hammond, IN on December 9, 1948.

Tim resided in Kansas City, MO for 33 years and previously Detroit, MI where he met and married his wife of 48 years. He served in Vietnam in the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army, was honorably discharged at the end of his service, and stayed connected to fellow veterans through social gatherings and community service. Tim was a Toolmaker for General Motors in Kansas City, KS until he retired in 2020 and moved to Florida to fulfill his long-time dream of living by the beach. He was a lifelong lover of cars and motorcycles and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with anyone who would listen. Tim always seemed to own some sort of unique vehicle that he knew inside and out.

Tim is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Andrea and her husband Brian Johnson; daughter, Christina and her husband Gary Hand; son, Ryan and his wife Ashley Westwood; grandchildren, Kristian, Kaylee and Kyra Morten, Sophia and Nathan Johnson, and Mason Johnson; siblings Mardi Garko, Herbert Westwood, Mark Westwood, and Jeanine Bruce as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lynn Poe and brother William Westwood.

Tim was known to everyone as an extremely friendly and gentle man with a great sense of humor. He will be remembered for his funny sayings and infectious laughter. Tim had a big heart and made an unforgettable impact on those who knew him.
