Tim's obituary

Timothy (“Tim”) Wayne Ulmer, 73, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, completed his earthly journey and was welcomed into his heavenly home by his Savior Jesus Christ on February 18, 2026.

Tim was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 28, 1952, and graduated from Dupont High School in 1970. A skilled cabinetmaker known for his craftsmanship, Tim followed in his dad’s footsteps of owning a custom cabinetry and millwork business. He took pride in the residential and commercial millwork he produced throughout Nashville. At 19 years old, he met his wife Edwina Cobb while cruising the parking lot of Shoney’s Restaurant. They married on May 26, 1973, and built their first and only home in Old Hickory.

At 40 years old, Tim’s life was radically changed when he asked Jesus to be his Lord and Savior. He spent his remaining days dedicated to serving Jesus in his home, church, and community.

A devoted and beloved husband, father, and Poppi, Tim had three daughters, Melissa, Kristin, and Allison. He embraced the life of a girl dad, attending gymnastics meets, cheerleading competitions, and softball tournaments. As they grew up, he made sure everyone knew how proud he was of the young women they became.

Before his death, Tim’s greatest joy was keeping up with the latest college sport scores with his granddaughter Bailey, fishing with his grandson Logan, watching his granddaughter McKinlee play basketball, throwing baseball with his grandson Levi, and laughing at his grandson Rhett’s antics.

Tim is survived by the love of his life Edwina Ulmer, and his three children, Melissa Runyan and her husband Anthony and their children, Bailey Ulmer and Logan Runyan; Kristin Cole and her husband Landon; and Allison Parker and her husband Sean and their children, McKinlee, Levi, and Rhett Parker. He is also survived by his sisters, Brenda (Ronald) Christy, Joy (Lamar) Bradley, Connie Slate, Melody (Dean) Beach and Sue Faircloth as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Marion Ulmer.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the International Mission Board (https://www.imb.org/give) or the Pregnancy Care Center (http://pregnancycarecentertn.…)
