Timothy's obituary

In Loving Memory of Timothy Teausant (1949–2025)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Timothy Teausant — beloved husband, father, grandfather, sibling, mentor, and friend — who left us peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 75 after battling heart and lung disease for many years.

Born on August 25, 1949, in San Jose, California, Tim was a man of strength, spirit, and unwavering loyalty. From humble beginnings, he built an empire in the martial arts world — instilling discipline, confidence, and resilience in countless students over the years. His legacy in martial arts was not just about self-defense, but about living with honor, courage, and respect.

After many years of operating Dojo’s in Portland, Gresham and Sandy, Oregon; Tim retired to Marion, Montana, where he traded his Gi for boots and spurs. There, he embraced his inner cowboy — branding cattle, riding western, fishing, and hunting under the big Montana sky. It was in this wide and wild country that he found a second kind of peace.

But above all, Tim was a family man. His daughters and his cherished granddaughters were the true apples of his eye — his greatest joy and constant pride. He lived for their successes, their love, and their joy. Always proud, always present. His presence was larger than life, yet his love was in the smallest things: a warm meal like Saturday morning Huevos Rancheros, a long story around the camp fire with his friends to share his tall tales, or dropping what he was doing to help a friend in need.

Tim’s legacy is one of strength, heart, and enduring love. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanie; daughters, Melissa and Melinda; his treasured granddaughters, Stella, Elizabeth, Natalie, Josephine, and Lauren; his brother Stanley and a wide circle of family, students, and friends who will carry his spirit and legacy forward.

We invite you all to join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Marion, Montana.
