Tim's obituary
Timothy Stephen Plendl hatched on September 11th, 1952, in LeMars (Earth) as the 3rd offspring of an eventual 12 to Stephen and Ardeth Plendl. The Plendl plethora settled in Geneva, Iowa (also on Earth) and helped bolster the local school district’s numbers until Tim graduated from Ackley Geneva in 1971 to a chorus of congratulations. As was expected of a man of his age, Tim grew his blonde locks long enough to make his sisters and his first wife Becky jealous. Upon enlisting in the Navy in 1972, his sister Vic was given the honor of shearing his mane before he left for basic training. Fortunately for Tim, this didn’t affect his strength. Unfortunately, he’d never have that much hair again. While in the navy, Tim trained in San Diego, and spent time at Treasure island. Thankfully there were no pirates in residence at the time. Tim spent his enlistment surrounded by seamen aboard the USS Guam, USS Guadalcanal and the USS Iwo Jima. Also during his time in San Diego, Tim and Becky welcomed Timothy Jr. and Stephanie before eventually divorcing in 1976.
After leaving the navy, Tim returned to Geneva (now hovering 6” above Earth) and worked at Winnebago in Hampton where he met and wooed Nancy Fisher. The two were married in December 1985. Tim and Nancy had 2 crotch goblins of their own, Allison and April. In the fall of ‘91 the family was chased out of Geneva with torches and pitchforks, and relocated to Dows (arguably on Earth). Tim attended Ellsworth Community College and escaped with his RN in 1996. Tim was a jack of all trades and a master of “Plendl humor”. He could make the dead groan with his punchlines. He spent his free time fishing, regardless of the weather, and many a spring day was spent dragging Allison and April out hunting asparagus, much to their chagrin.
In his final years, Tim quit smoking and the air quality in the surrounding counties improved tenfold. Unfortunately, the 50+ years of smoking had already done their damage and he developed COPD. On June 27th, Tim passed peacefully with Nancy, his wife of nearly 40 years, by his side. He knew that he was loved, had made peace with his end, and was “pain free for the first time since 1972.”
Tim joined his mother Ardeth, father Stephen, Uncle George and Aunt Lois Schuler, son Tim Jr., siblings George, Micheal, and Cynthia on the escape pod (from Earth). He is survived by his wife Nancy, children Stephanie Lawrence of Fort Worth, TX, Allison (Adam) Plendl of Algona, Earth, and April Plendl of Dows, IA; grandchildren Zach Wilson, Alex Wilson, Adrianna Balfour, Jayde (Max) Dietrick, Cohen Dietrick, Kadence Mossman, and Colin Plendl; siblings Victoria (Mark) Caprioni, Catherine Murphy, Hal (Cheryl) Plendl, Scott (Emma) Plendl, Brian Plendl, Aaron Plendl, Vanessa Nelson, and Mariea Peters, as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and others who will remain unnamed per their request. Rest easy Dad.
