Funeral services for Mr. Thurman L. Pope, Sr., age 97, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Richard N. Stanley Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at West View Cemetery. Mr. Jearl Wyrosdick and Rev. Stephen Blitch will officiate.

Mr. Pope was born August 15, 1915 in Johnson County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Arthur & Mamie Lawrence Pope, his wife, Ermie Stewart Pope, brothers, Albert Pope and Gerald Pope and a sister, Pauline Flanders. He was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church and was Woodman of the Year in 1966. He was retired from Johnson County as Road Superintendent and also worked many years for the Rowland Company. Mr. Pope passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013.

He is survived by a son, T.L. (Lynn) Pope, Jr. of Wrightsville, 2 daughters, Thelma Jean (Dan) Bolt of Rome and Betty P. Hicks of Forsyth, a sister, Nelle Thigpen of Vidalia, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Monday , July 15, 2013 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Andy Hicks, Brad Hicks, Brent Thigpen, Greg Thigpen, Prentice Price, Mark Snider, Eddie Carter and Ron McArthur.

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
