Thomas's obituary

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Thomas Leroy Wert passed away on June 14, 2023, at the age of 78. After several months of declining health, Thomas died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Thomas (Pappy Man) was born on December 16, 1944, in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He was a well-known member of the town of West Milton where he grew up. Thomas had a love for the outdoor life of fishing and hunting. You could often find him casting a line or hiking the wooded mountain side with his son and father-in-law.

Thomas spent many years working at the local steel mill in town until it closed, then his love for engines and boats led him to become a mechanic at Towne Marine and then Robbins Marine. After his retirement, Thomas and his wife moved south to Charleston, SC to be with their son and watch their granddaughter grow.

Thomas is survived by his wife Joan Marie Wert; son Michael Charles Wert; daughter-in-law Jennifer Wert; granddaughter Madison Belle Wert; siblings Harry, Linda, Shirley, Susan, Holly, and Bill; and countless extended family members.

His wife, son and family will be returning him to Pennsylvania to honor him on the mountain and river he loved. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
