Thomas's obituary

Thomas G. Weidner, 65, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on July 16, 2025. Born on June 2, 1960, in Pottstown, PA, to the late Lester and Virginia Weidner, Thomas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, affectionately known as Hubby, Dad, Pop-Pop, Stu, Uncle Tom and PopPop Elmo.

Thomas dedicated much of his career to Pottstown Plating Works until a car accident left him permanently disabled. Undeterred, he poured his heart into caring for his family, selflessly supporting his wife, Rebecca, in her ambitions and nurturing his children with unwavering love. His devotion extended to his six grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply.

Thomas enjoyed baking and delighted in creating personalized birthday treats for family and friends, holiday desserts, and sharing birthday treats at his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews’ schools. His love for the outdoors shone through in his beautifully tended gardens each spring and summer, as well as in countless summers spent exploring Pottstown with his children and then grandchildren. Thomas was also an avid sports enthusiast, cheering passionately for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, never missing a game when he could help it. Known for his quick wit, he loved telling jokes and making people laugh, bringing joy to everyone he met with his infectious laugh and warm smile.

As a proud friend of Bill W., Thomas was deeply involved in his Alcoholics Anonymous community, serving in many roles, including chairman, and forming lasting bonds with those he supported.

Above all, Thomas’s greatest love was his wife, Rebecca, whom he affectionately called Kitty. For over 40 years, he doted on her with unselfish, sacrificial love, setting an enduring example of devotion.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca Weidner; his children, Ashley Weidner, Johnathan Weidner (married to Melissa Weidner), and Christina Weidner (partner of Kyle Flamer); and his six grandchildren, Shaelyne Weidner, Cheyenne Flamer, Gavin Weidner, Marshall Flamer, Julianna Weidner, and Jazlyne Weidner. He is also survived by his four sisters, Donna Bartholomew (wife of Guy Bartholomew Junior), Marlene Smale (widow of James Smale), Darlene, Arlene Weidner, and his brother, David Weidner, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Virginia Weidner, and his brother, Donald Weidner.

A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held on August 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Pottstown New Life AOG, 902 N. Charlotte Street, Pottstown, PA 19464. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for food and refreshments at 1504 Cherry Ln, Pottstown, PA 19464.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rebecca Weidner to support her during this transition
