Thomas's obituary
Tom passed just days short of his 67th birthday.
He was born in Bayside, Queens New York, moving to San Diego as a young man to work his way through law school. He worked in a corporate setting for nearly 20 years and had spent the last 15 years working in his own Employment Law practice. He loved helping people through difficult times in their lives and coaching clients in negotiations.
Tom had a wide range of interests which he explored thoroughly. Be it music and guitars, windsurfing, running, camping and hiking, snorkeling or bikes – he educated himself, purchased lots of gear, and became adept in each outlet. Tom and his wife Susan spent countless hours riding bikes in locations all around the greater Bay Area. It was an activity they enjoyed both together and with groups of likeminded enthusiasts.
Tom was able to attend the weddings of his two oldest children in the months before his death. He was there to share the happiness of Zac and Merete's wedding on the beach in Mexico and just a couple of months later the joy of Maggie's wedding to Zach Clark in Pennsylvania. Youngest daughter Allison made her dad proud with her success in the hospitality industry, though he missed seeing her off to a promotion in another state.
Per Tom’s wishes, the bereaved will not host a service. The family has plans to distribute his ashes in some of his favorite places. The family encourages anyone wishing to honor Tom do so by donating blood, paying forward the generosity of those who contributed to a key part of his treatment.
