Tom's obituary

Thomas (Tom) Keith Trout, 68, of Spring Branch, Texas, passed away on November 25, 2023, after a battle with cancer.

Tom was a great man and an accomplished hunter and avid fisherman. Tom had a natural ability to make friends wherever he went and a humbled passion for helping others.

Tom travelled throughout North America on hunting and fishing excursions, making memories with family and friends. He had friendships that lasted decades and you could count yourself blessed if you were one of those friends. Tom loved to laugh and was a great storyteller, like the time he wrecked two cars during a winter storm on a Friday the 13th.

Tom also had a genuine love of teaching. He loved answering questions about sports, raising chickens or seasoning the perfect venison burger. He taught his niece Trisha how to hunt, his daughters and grandson how to fish. He taught us how to be self-sufficient, growing a garden, maintaining the car, and basic home repairs. Tom used to volunteer with the Lions Club, which led him to teaching a gentleman how to read and develop a lasting friendship.

Tom gave the best hugs, at least that’s what his family all had to say, and his best friends would all agree that he was the nicest guy anyone ever met. He loved having people around him, loved to share stories, loved learning, and sharing his knowledge. He stayed busy, always working on some project, or tending the garden, hunting and fishing any free moments he had. Tom enjoyed life, he enjoyed living with his friends and family and appreciating the natural world around him.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, James Trout, mother, Ruth Trout, nephew Clinton Myers, and dear friend Dennis. He is survived by his wife, Crystal Trout (Spring Branch, Texas), his daughters Jennifer Trout-Paden (Round Rock, Texas) and Charlotte Trout (Austin, Texas), his grandson Anthony Gonzalez (Austin, Texas), his sister Janet Myers and his brother-in-law Jeff Myers, brother Mike Trout and sister-in-law Alice Trout, his brother Mark Trout and sister-in-law Marti Trout, his brother Bob Trout and sister-in-law Elvia Trout, and his nieces and nephews: Amy Baker, Ben Trout, Caitlyn Myers, Christy Trout, Emily Trout, Joe Trout, Jonathon Trout, Nikki Trout, Sarah Cunningham, Teresa Wohleb, Tim Trout, and Trisha Trout.

Tom did not want a funeral or memorial service. Respecting his wishes, his family and friends will be invited to celebrate his favorite holiday, the 4th of July, together in Michigan next year.

Tom was a proud frequent blood donor; we encourage his friends and family to visit their local blood donation center.
