He was a constant presence for so much of my growing up- we were lucky to have such good neighbors.  I was so sad when Mom called me- holding your family gently in my heart and thoughts.

I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I have a very fond memory of him taking my dad, Thom Canfield, canoeing as part of the great Castell kayak race when I was a little kid. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I learned a lot about selflessness from Tom. He was the best kind of friend, he didn’t keep score.

Scott and I floated in the river with Tom late one night about five years ago, and we counted shooting stars, took in the Milky Way and were delighted when we watched a satellite cross the body of stars. We could not force ourselves out of the river. Who knows what time it was when we got out! Magical.

I was fortunate enough to have spent time with Tom on the Brazos River. Both on the annual clean-ups and sitting by the fire at Eds. I can honestly say that I am a better man having known Tom. Vaya con Dios!!
