Zane's obituary
Thomas Zane Steele “Zane”, 55, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 due to complications surrounding liver disease. Zane resided in Rapid City, South Dakota at the time of his passing.
Zane was born on Valentine’s Day in 1966 to proud parents, Tom Steele and Margi Powell. Zane grew up with his younger brother, Carmen Jay. Later, his little sister, K.C. (Steele) Jager, was born. Zane attended school primarily in Colorado, graduating high school in Longmont. Zane was a tremendous athlete and excelled at many sports, including track and baseball.
Zane enjoyed good times with his friends and family. He loved attending family reunions and meeting up with friends for a night of bowling. Zane worked many different jobs in his younger years, including bar tending, which he loved. Zane easily made lifelong friendships. For several years before his passing, Zane was a caretaker for his mother, Margi. Zane had a huge heart and could make anyone laugh. His friends and family were his priority. He enjoyed phone calls with loved ones, catching up and reminiscing old times. While social media was not his strong suit, Zane took pride in seeing loved ones’ photos on Facebook and giving them a “like”. Zane’s passing was far too soon and he will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is Zane’s mother, Margi Powell and brother, Carmen Jay, both of Rapid City, sister, K.C. (Austin) Jager of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, his niece, Kaydence Jager, and nephews, Carson and Caleb Jager, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Zane was preceded in death by his father, Tom Steele.
A celebration of life for Zane will be scheduled at a later date and announced online. If you would like to mail his mother a sympathy card, Margi's address is 1900 Harmony Heights Lane, Apt. 305, Rapid City, SD 57702.
