Thomas's obituary
Thomas Allen Senzee, 54, of Palm Springs died unexpectedly on March 22nd. Thom's loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.
Thom, as he liked to be called, was born on August 15th 1967 to Peggi and Jerry Senzee in Hoisington, KS. Thom attended the Berkeley school of journalism and graduated with honors. Thom was passionate about investigative reporting and was diligent about pursuing and covering, or uncovering the truth, as it were. After graduating high school, Thom moved to San Francisco to attend the Berkeley School of journalism where he graduated with a bachelor's in journalism. Thom worked as a journalist at several small news outlets in Los Angeles, Palm springs, Phoenix and then San Diego until garnering Nationwide attention as signature blogger for the Huffington Post. Former editor-in-chief of LGBT Weekly and world news correspondent for The Advocate, he has also served as law reporter for the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Valley edition. Thom was very involved in the LGBTQ community and was the creator and moderator of "Q's in the news". His sister Beverly says, "Thom struggled with a lot of loss in his life, mostly close friends, and even his publisher for many years who passed away recently was a particularly crushing blow for him." Thom spent a lot of time advocating for the rights of the homeless & other vulnerable groups. Reporting their plight whenever he could. Thom was a strong proponent for equal rights for all people and had a strong conviction for telling the truth. Thom had a strong work ethic and would work diligently to discover and report worthwhile news. He had an immense passion for writing and enjoyed sharing his ideas and opinions with others. He was always a source of positivity, and most of his friends say how warm, loving, generous & kind Thom was. He truly was a gentle person with a big heart and will be especially remembered for this. Thom’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
