Thomas's obituary

Thom Schuhow lost his battle with cancer and peacefully entered eternity, April 2, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones. TJ was born September 28, 1954 to Gilda Lou Hix (Thomsen) and Raymond Henry Schuhow, both deceased. He is survived by his wife Debi Schuhow, his daughters Jennifer L. Schuhow-Lara, Cassandra (Sandy) Miller, Jessica A. Schuhow-Opdyke, six grand-children, and brothers David Schuhow and Raymond (Hank) Schuhow.
TJ grew up in Aurora, IL and moved to Doniphan, MO in 1994, where he spent the last years of his life. TJ was a poet at heart, and spent much of his life playing his guitar and singing to his family. TJ’s life was filled with music. He spent many years performing in local bands including the now infamous Risky Whiver, and many more years writing and recording original songs. These songs filled his home and are a beautiful testimony to his natural talent.
TJ spent 22 years of his life working at Fermilab in Batavia and formed many lasting relationships with his co-workers and friends. He also has many friends, who, like him, battled addiction and bonded in AA and the 12 step-program. He would not have had the life he did, were it not for this program and his submission to Christ.
TJ was always searching and yearning for something greater than himself. After many years he finally found the missing piece, a relationship with Christ. His family rejoices in the knowledge that he has found perfect love in Christ’s arms and is at rest after a painful 11 month battle with cancer.
A memorial service for TJ is scheduled for May 4th, 2019 1100 at West Point Church Rr 1 Box 1105 Doniphan, MO.
A second memorial service is planned for “Thom” at First Presbyterian Church, 325 E Downer Pl, Aurora, IL 60505 for family and friends unable to travel to Missouri. This service will be held May 25, 2019 with visitation from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., celebration of life service from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his name to West Point Church in Doniphan, MO for a new playground, or in his name to the Batavia Twelve Step Club in Batavia, IL.
