It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Erskine Rice, Jr., who departed this life on November 19, 2023, just days before his 51st birthday. Born on November 23, 1972, Thomas was a kind and strong man, a true friend, a thoughtful listener, a fierce Bills loyalist, and an eternal optimist whose humor could light up any room.
Thomas fought a long and valiant battle with Multiple Sclerosis, demonstrating extraordinary strength, resilience, and courage every step of the way. Despite the challenges he faced, his unwavering optimism and determination inspired everyone who knew him.
Thomas had a gift for connecting with people, offering his wisdom, love, and laughter to all who crossed his path. He had a knack for making others feel seen and valued, always offering a hand or ear to those who needed it.
Thomas’ legacy lives on through his beloved daughter, Natalia, and son, Dillon, whose lives were shaped by his unconditional love and guidance. He is also survived by his mother, Jennifer; his stepmother, Suzy, who loved him as her own; his siblings, Terry and Joi; his nephews, Christopher, Tyson, and Trevor; his nieces, Lena and Bree; his family by extension, Amber, Candice, and Susan; and an extraordinary number of family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories of his warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness.
Thomas was a man of rare character whose soul leaves an indelible mark on all who knew him. His unconditional love and enduring spirit will be forever imprinted in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared in his life. Though our loss is immeasurable, we find comfort in knowing his was truly a once-in-a-lifetime soul whose wisdom, stories, and legacy live on through all who carry his memory.
