What were Tom's favorite performances to watch?

When I entered The Reichard's 240 West Argonne house so many times, especially in the 1970s, Mr. Reichard's prominent "school teacher" large desk was right near the rear entry. Sometimes I sat in his chair. Many plaques were up on the wall or his desk for patents of products that he obtained for Monsanto in his career.  He was so intelligent.
In 1976, he rode his bike from California to St. Louis in thirty days. In a notebook on the desk, every listed date, miles logged, and area covered; it was moving (this wasn't very common then).  Then to the left of the desk would be a bicycle, and it was no Schwinn 10-speed.  It was so amazing, mounted on some unique rack to work on.  You could lift it with one hand; he would take every piece apart to tune and improve performance. 
Later over these last 20-plus years, I visited him several times alone, and the stories he would share of his youth, growing up, and still possessing such a high interest in competitions. He had a passion for cars from when he was young,  building and racing hot rodders in his youth (he would tell me, "I didn't share that with the kids when they were young."). He loved one Honda I had for about 20 years, and I would tell him, "Go take it out for a drive," but he wouldn't. Tom also had such a zest for keeping fit and passed it on to children.  One day, at his house in Afton, Tom was tracking a marathon online that Amy was competing in and was so proud of her times and stated that she had not even gotten to the portion where she excelled. 
I will never forget him and Mrs. Reichard for the rest of my days.  Exceptional people!
