Thomas Joseph Mieyal, age 56, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at his residence in Lorain, OH, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Born on December 14, 1967, in Cleveland, OH, Tom had called Lorain home for the past decade, having relocated from Eastlake, OH.

A graduate of St. Ignatius High School in 1985, Tom had an entrepreneurial spirit and was a self-taught graphic designer and computer technician. He co-owned and operated The Waterloo Design Company in Cleveland, which later became The Designery in Eastlake, OH.

Known for his famously dry humor and sharp wit, Tom could lighten any mood. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and godfather who selflessly provided support and a comforting presence which will be deeply missed. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, particularly enjoying fishing, kayaking and nature walks.

Survived by his loving parents, John and Donna (nee Dobscha) Mieyal of Vermilion, he is also dearly remembered by his brother, Paul (Candyrae) Mieyal of Stamford, CT, sisters Jennifer (William) Beck and Angela Pfeil, both of Vermilion, and his nieces and nephews: Xavier, Sarah, Ryan and Trinity.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Jennie Mieyal, and his maternal grandparents, Collette and William Dobscha.

Tom was a contributor to St. Mary Catholic Parish in Vermilion. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Private inurnment is scheduled to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland, at a later date.
