I knew Tom in his later years. He was a true friend and so funny. We had many laughs. I adored his artistic ability a true talent that was passed down to his children especially Lorri who he was so so proud of. He shared so much wisdom and life lessons with me as he reminisced about all the shenanigans that he got into. Words can’t express my gratitude for the time I got to spend with. Love you  Tom

Tom and I first met in 1972 while attending Florida Institute of Technology at the Jensen Beach Campus.  We had both recently gotten out of the Navy (Tom - Submarines) and me (Seabees) after completing our enlistment.  We quickly became friends and formed a strong and lasting bond.  While in FL Tom helped me find a vintage Florida Style cottage to rent.  It was built in the 1920s along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River and we called it the Mapp House.  It became a haven for a group of us FIT students to relax, party, and enjoy the river canoeing and fishing all out in the front yard.  It was a special place at an important time in our young lives.

Later, we attended each others weddings in 1974 where Tom was my best man in Plattsburgh NY.  We spent several years seeing each other, fishing, hiking, camping in NY.  As in many cases as time wore on with our families growing and me and my family moving to NC and TX we lost touch and was replaced by period letter and card writing.   We often talked about our time in Florida and the Mapp House during calls and letters.  I will miss our calls and letters, Tom's sense of humor, his wit, and optimism.

Tom was a friend on the submarine, at FIT, a carpenter in Stuart/Jensen Beach area in Florida, and just goofing around. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to all of you who loved Tom….May you all have the serenity which comes with the acceptance of life on life’s terms.  My heartfelt wishes for peace to be with you all during these days of healing.               Love, Christina Hrynyk

Still in shock.  Great memories camping, Rye Playland, and just hanging out.  Tom, you will be missed and forever loved.

So sorry for your loss,  Lorri and Kelly.  I remember his smile and sense of humor. And appreciated  his artistic talent. Always remember the good times. Hope they bring some comfort.
our trip around lake superior with Julie and their  parents in my senior year of high school, we snuck cigs (black cat #9) and hung out like brothers
