Tommy's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tommy" Janota, who entered eternal rest on July 23, 2025. Born on January 12, 1932, Tommy was known for his mischievous nature, his master storytelling, and his unfailing loyalty to his loved ones.
He married his beloved wife, Janyce Colson Janota, in 1963, forming a bond of love and companionship that would last more than six decades. Tommy is survived by his faithful wife, Janyce, and his devoted son, Douglas Janota and daughter-in-law, Farah Madani. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry Janota and Martha Hubenak, his brothers, George and Benny Janota, and his sisters, Evelyn McManis and Bessie Garner.
Taking delight in simple pleasures, Tommy was an enthusiast of fishing and would often be found with a bottle of his favorite beer while sharing one of his engaging stories. His practical knowledge and knack for fixing nearly anything was a testament to his resourcefulness, a trait he often emphasized in his life lessons.
Tommy was an amazing cook and took delight in preparing elaborate meals for his family and friends. Additionally, he enjoyed gardening and could make anything not only grow but thrive.
Tommy was a man of service, having served his country during the Korean War. His dedication to helping others was further demonstrated through his work with children at Devereux, marking as one of his significant accomplishments.
Tommy's legacy will be remembered as one of hard work, an appreciation of the outdoors, and immense pride in his Czech heritage. He touched many lives with his charisma and steadfast integrity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met. Tommy's departure has left a void that can never be filled, but his vibrant spirit will forever be etched in our hearts.
