Today, we remember my dear friend, brother, and your dad, Tom Hickey, on what would have been his 79th birthday. Though two short years have passed since his heavenly journey , his spirit continues to echo in the lives of those he loved—especially his children, who walk forward with quiet strength and resilience.
Tom was a man whose life carried the joy of a child and the faith of a warrior. Even in his later years, he had the spark of a 10 year old—a heart alive with curiosity, laughter, and wonder. We worked together for more than 12 years, but our bond went far beyond work. We studied the Word of God side by side, wrestled with truth, and shared a vision of doing better things. He dreamed deeply, gave generously, and lived with a quiet conviction that the purpose of life was not success, but significance. Tom’s life was a reminder that greatness is not measured by titles or possessions, but by the lives we lift, the faith we carry, and the love we leave behind.
I miss him deeply—not just for the conversations or the laughter, but for the friendship. He was the kind of friend who saw your potential even when you didn't.
Today, I want to honor the memory of a great man and a greater friend. His dreams still breathe in those of us who remain. His faith still challenges us to live with courage, and his joy still reminds us to never grow old in spirit.
Rest well, my friend. Your work continues—in us and through the lives you touched.
