Thomas's obituary
Thomas Hakimian (1941–2025)
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, shoemaker, and proud Armenian immigrant
With heavy hearts and deep love, the family of Thomas Hakimian announces his passing in 2025 at the age of 84.
Born in 1941 to an Armenian family living in Lebanon, Thomas's early years were shaped by both the strength of his cultural heritage and the hardships of political turmoil. As civil war engulfed Lebanon, Thomas made the difficult but courageous decision to leave his homeland and seek a better life for his family. He immigrated to the United States, carrying with him the values of hard work, perseverance, and deep-rooted faith — values that would define the rest of his life.
A skilled and respected shoemaker, Thomas spent decades mastering his craft. His hands told the story of a man who worked hard and gave his all. His small shop became a familiar place in the community — not just for quality repairs and craftsmanship, but for the warmth and quiet wisdom Thomas offered to everyone who walked through the door. He believed there was dignity in every honest trade, and he treated each job, no matter how small, with care and pride.
Above all, Thomas was a family man. He shared over fifty years of love and partnership with his devoted wife, Rose Hakimian, with whom he built a life grounded in loyalty, tradition, and unconditional love. Together, they raised four children — Hagop, Arthur, Ani, and Angel — each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. His greatest happiness came not from material success, but from family dinners, holidays surrounded by laughter, and quiet moments spent in the presence of those he loved most.
Thomas embraced his Armenian identity with great pride, keeping his culture alive through stories, food, and tradition. He made sure his children and grandchildren knew where they came from, and what it meant to be Armenian — to be strong, compassionate, and proud of one’s history.
Those who knew Thomas will remember his kind heart, soft-spoken wisdom, and the calming presence he brought into every room. He had a way of making others feel heard and seen, offering comfort without needing to say much. He was the kind of man whose strength was quiet but unshakable.
Thomas Hakimian is survived by his loving wife, Rose, his four cherished children — Hagop, Arthur, Ani, and Angel — and his many grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of love, resilience, and integrity.
He leaves behind a life that touched many, a family united in love, and a legacy rooted in humility, grace, and strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
May he rest in peace.
