Tom's obituary
The eldest of three, Tom was born on July 6, 1949, to Thomas Joseph and Joan Estelle in Superior, Wisconsin. Early in Tom’s life, the family moved to Riverside, California, where he helped out in his father’s drive-in diner, enjoyed success in a variety of sports, and served faithfully in the local Catholic church.
After that, Tom—ever the searcher and yearner—ventured across the Southwest and West Coast, spending some years in Klamath Falls, Oregon, working for the railroad.
In 1980, Tom joined Sally in what would be an 18-year marriage that brought together Sally’s three children: Edmond, Stephanie, and Derrick. During their life together, they had two children of their own, Meagan and Thomas Jr.
Later, Tom was blessed to find a new wife and life partner in Romona “Mona” Teague. The two spent his remaining years deeply devoted to one another.
Tom was a dedicated, enthusiastic, and dutiful provider who loved the work he did as a Quality Manager for Quality Oil Tools and HP. His savvy business acumen and attention to detail combined with big-picture thinking made him an invaluable partner to his colleagues throughout the years.
A lifelong adventurer, Tom could often be found trekking across the U.S. to take in the beauty of coastlines and National Parks. He retired for a short while to Mazatlan, Mexico, where he enjoyed the life of an ex-pat before returning to the States and renovating a home in Southern Oregon. Eventually, he settled in South Louisiana to be near his wife and family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mona Teague; children and their spouses; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Mary Jo McMorran and husband Dave; and brother Tim and wife Yvonne. He is predeceased by his late wife, Sarah (“Sally”); his parents, Thomas and Joan; and his daughter, Stephanie. His family remembers him as driven, focused, and committed.
As current travel and conditions related to group gatherings limit traditional funeral arrangements, the public is welcome to celebrate Tom’s life by sharing fond memories at https://everloved.com/life-of…. Future plans will be communicated as they come together.
Tom always wished to have Pachelbel’s Canon in D played at his funeral, so please—take a moment today to honor his memory as you listen to his favorite arrangement here: https://youtu.be/2eOnm2tYJHs
