My Mentor, Friend, and Office Partner is gone too soon, but man, what a legacy he leaves! He taught me the art of connecting people from his expertise as a TRUE Black Legend who always served his people!
#RIH Tommy, you will be missed. However, your guidance will live on for generations within many who learned from you as Chairman and President of 100 Black Men of America, Founder of GAME and National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., and Atlanta Business League {ABL}, among many other Senior Leadership roles of prominent organizations nationwide.
This is the tribute I sent to personal friends & colleagues across the USA who didn't know him;
Homies, enjoy this history of the Power Broker Player I met in 1992 at my sister's party in Washington, DC. (I had just left California looking for new opportunities.) I believe Tommy was still with Senator Sam Nunn or just ended that tenure. After we conferred for hours, he invited me to Atlanta, and I took his advice a year later. This was a significant move for my family-run small, gov-prime business!
With many great introductions (by Tommy) and several business deals later, I offered my office suite in downtown ATL's P'Tree Center to this Icon in 1994-95. This was after a significant contract award back in DC. So, by moving personnel back to DC, I needed to lease out four to five offices, including a reception area. We 'Made It Happen' (as he always said), and I gave Tommy the principal office in the suite for Atlanta Transportation Company. Then, before the '96 Olympics, he formed TWD Inc., which exploded!
The rest, my friends, is history, as mentioned in this article: https://atlantatribune.com/20…
Enjoy reading this celebration of life, MALT.
