Thomas's obituary

Thomas Alan Dixon, our beloved Papa Tom, of Dublin, California, born on October 1, 1944 in Norman, Oklahoma, to the late Francis and Doris Dixon, went to be with the Lord at age 73 on August 21, 2018. He graduated from Arroyo High School in 1963. From 1963 to 1967, Thomas served in the Navy, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. After serving in the Navy, Thomas worked as a diesel mechanic for AC Transit until he retired in 2003. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine, and they just recently celebrated their marriage of 51 wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Dixon. Thomas is also survived by his sons, Thomas Dixon Jr. and wife Jessie; Robert Dixon and wife Pilar; daughter, Jennifer Maita; brothers, Michael Dixon and David Dixon; sister, Jeannie Tedder; grandchildren, Alicia Dixon Sunada and husband Anthony; Isabella Dixon, Anthony Maita, Arianna Dixon, Annaleisa Dixon, Ryan Maita, and James Dixon. He also leaves behind his adored cat, Ke’ilani. Thomas coached Little League Baseball for five years and also helped in coaching soccer for one year. He loved to go camping almost every summer, especially at the San Mateo County Memorial Park Campgrounds. He also enjoyed playing golf at least once a week. Those who wish may donate in Thomas’ name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org). Friends and family members may attend the celebration of life, officiated by Pastor Mark Teyler, on Saturday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at 3Crosses Church, 20600 John Drive, Castro Valley, California, 94546.
