Thomas's obituary

Thomas was born on September 09, 1951 to Dorothy Mae Kimbrough and Rev. Thomas Earl Deal in New Orleans, La. Thomas has always been described as a very expressive child whether through words or fashion and was very well respected by all who knew him.

Thomas was raised in the Wild Magnolia, Clara court, which he repped everywhere he went. He was always proud of where he was from and made sure others knew it. Thomas went to Thomy Lafon elementary school and later went on to Booker T. Washington high school. When Thomas was old enough he left home and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served and fought in the Vietnam War. He was Honorably discharged and lived the rest of his life as a proud U.S. Veteran. He then served as head pastry chef at the Charlton and Hilton Hotel. Thomas was passionate about being a head pastry chef and loved what he did for a living.

Thomas was the husband of Mona Lisa Deal and Father of Thomas (Shon) Warren, Frank Thomas Isom, Le’Mona Lisa Deal, and the late Orville Billy Isom and Calvin James Thomas. He worked and retired in after a number of years. While retired, Thomas had time to pursue his love of spoken word and music. He later took on the name Slim 50, which speaks for itself. Thomas enjoyed expressing himself with words and always knew the latest music and artists to look out for, and each time-he was right! He had a fashion style of his own, which drew compliments that he KNEW he deserved. After-all, "One of the hardest thing to do is be the best lookin' man in the world. I ain't lyin' to you!"

Thomas transitioned from this earth on July 12, 2022 in the comfort of his home in New Orleans, La. with his sister Cynthia “Cint” by his side. He was welcomed home by a host of familiar ancestors- his mother and best friend- Dorothy Mae Kimbrough, his father Rev. Dr. Thomas Earl Deal, his son Calvin and stepson Billy “Orville,” his great grandmother Elizabeth Ruth Gillen and a host other of ancestors who waited to celebrate his life on earth and welcome him into his spiritual home. It was indeed a celebration!

Thomas is survived by his three children Thomas Shon Warren, Frank Thomas Isom and as he would say, “My ONLY,” Le'Mona Lisa Deal.

He is also survived by his sisters Cynthia Moundy and Mary Abdul-Mateen, his godchild Crystal “Peaches” Johnson, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. His niece who he admired as his mother’s namesake, Dorothy Mae, and a host of nieces and Nephews, cousins, family and friends.
