Thomas's obituary

Thomas Robert Braun, known as Tom or Tommy to friends and “Uncle Tom” to his many nieces and nephews, passed away on April 16, 2026, at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 30, 1954, in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, Tom was the kind of person who, in some ways, never really grew up. Everyone who knew him was drawn to his sense of humor and adventurous spirit. He had a youthful energy that lit up every room he entered, always armed with a joke or a story that could make even the most serious of his business partners crack a smile. He lived to entertain those around him—and he was remarkably good at it.

Tom had a lifelong love of the water, finding joy and freedom in boating whenever he had the chance. Some of his happiest memories were tied to the Hudson River, a place where he found respite and adventure. Whether he was on a cruise down the river, or navigating the boat all the way down to Ocean City, New Jersey, he was always up for a boat outing.

Tom was a devoted brother, father, and uncle, taking special joy in the role of “Uncle Tom,” a title given with love by his many nieces and nephews. His presence brought laughter, warmth, and a sense of connection to every gathering.

He is survived by his four brothers, Bill, Ned, Jim and Mike, and his children, Chris and Julia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Rowley Braun and William Braun, as well as his sister, Patricia, and his brother, Joe.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LiveOnNY Foundation (https://secure.qgiv.com/for/l…)

Tom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
