Thomas's obituary
Thomas E. Bradshaw, November 24, 1967 - December 2nd, 2023
Tom Bradshaw was a raconteur at heart, whose life was a series of vignettes, each as captivating and heartfelt as the chords he strummed on his guitar. What you may or may not have known about Tom was that his curiosity and passion for life were as vast as the trails he hiked and the tracks he followed.
Born to loving parents Kathleen (now deceased) and Tom in the brisk embrace of November, his love for the thunderous romance of trains and the rich history of railroads was not just a hobby; it was a testament to his appreciation for the journeys we all embark upon.
An ardent reader and seeker of truth, his intellectual pursuits were as varied as the cities he called home during his career —London, San Francisco, and New York City. He translated his passion for music into skill, playing the guitar with a zeal matched only by his talent for creating amplifiers, a task he approached with a fearless, albeit electrifying, do-it-yourself spirit.
In 2015, Tom embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Vietnam and Thailand, immersing himself in the vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and the humbling history of these lands. Not one to shy away from nature’s call, he also conquered the Appalachian Trail, a feat that spoke volumes of his determination and love for the great outdoors.
His professional life was dedicated to the insurance industry, where he worked with the likes of AIG, leaving an indelible mark of excellence. Yet, his artistic soul was never far from expression. Tom could often be found sketching life as he saw it, his drawings a vivid reflection of his perspective.
He leaves behind a grieving family—his father, Thomas, stepmother, Donna, his brother, Stephen and half-brothers Chris and Alex —along with a multitude of friends and colleagues whose lives he touched with his warmth, creativity, and indomitable spirit.
To have known Tom was to know a life lived in full color. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the man, the artist, and the loving son and brother. His was a journey well-traveled, and his memory will continue to inspire us to seek the beauty in the paths less trodden.
Reflecting on Tom's life journey, the words of Proverbs 16:9 resonate with the spirit he carried: "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Tom's steps were established through the melodies he played, the stories he told, and the love he shared.
As we bid farewell to Tom, we are reminded of the echoes of his laughter, the strokes of his art, and the resonance of his music. Tom, you are deeply missed, but your spirit remains an unforgettable part of our stories.
