Tom's obituary
Genoa, Nevada - Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, coach, and everybody's favorite uncle Thomas (Tom) Barrow (89) passed away in Carson Tahoe Minden Medical in Minden, NV, from complications of COVID-19 on November 10, 2021.
Tom was born in Genoa, NV, to Brett and Sady Barrow in 1932. He spent his childhood catching prairie dogs and chasing his brothers and sister. They moved to Cedar City, as a teen, where he made lifelong friends. He then attended Branch Agricultural College (Now Southern Utah University) and where he earned his bachelors degree.
Tom and his wife, Addy (DeeDee), met on the college soccer field and spent their free time driving over mountains and across state lines, stopping to take photos of anything beautiful along the way—and always listening to music. They married in 2003, starting their family in Wyoming and then moved to Cedar City in 2007, where they have been raising their children while wandering through adventures and daydreams.
Tom was a kid at heart. He served as coach for his children's rec municipal soccer team, and worked as a director agriculture for 11 years. He served his community with all his heart, as well as lots of costumes, jokes and Swedish Fish.
Andy loved soccer, the mountains, friendships, Dr. Pepper, fishing, and a good laugh. He had a magic way of making everybody's day better, sharing music, poetry, and his love for cool hats along the way.
He loved coaching soccer. And though he coached several high-scoring teams, Andy measured his success more by his players' work ethic rather than any number on a scoreboard. He has mentored hundreds of children in rec and club soccer.
At home, Tom's goal was to make DeeDee laugh every day. He was happiest when cuddled up with his children, listening to music or teasing them with practical jokes and random trivia. Tom was the idea man and ring leader of every adventure. In every way, he was the heart of his family.
Tom is survived by wife Addy (DeeDee) Barrow; their children Nathaniel (Nate), Jackson, Harry, and Westin; brother Laurence (Lori) and Jaycie; siblings-in-law Tyler Thompson, Mariah Barrow; as well as countless friends and adoring relatives. He is preceded in death by his twin children, Jameson and Alexandra (Lexi).
There will be a viewing at the Fitz Henry's Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 12-4pm and with a Funeral Sunday, Nov. 14 from 10-12:30pm, followed by the Burial at 1pm. Interment will be at the Genoa Cemetery.
