Theresa was born December 14, 1930, to the late Wenceslaus and Cecilia (Kalt) Yaklin of Detroit, Michigan. She was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and faith — a legacy lived through her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. A humorous, loving, nurturing, and caring woman, she was thrifty and appreciated and took care of what she had, a reflection of her humble, down-to-earth spirit.
In 1950, Theresa wedded her late husband, Desmond K. Steele, and together they built a loving family. She leaves behind her son Russell (Margaret) Steele and her daughter Sandra (Lee) Wilen and grandchildren Curtis, Erik, Alicia, Ryan, great granddaughter Candice and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Wayne, and her loving husband, Desmond (Dick). Theresa also joins her dearly departed siblings in eternity: Rita, Robert, Imelda, Harold, Vincent, Charles, Dolores, Donald, Richard, David, and Anthony.
Theresa had a zest for life that was palpable in her diverse interests. She loved her pets and had many dogs and parakeets throughout her life. Elvis's music and reading celebrity autobiographies was a favorite way to pass the time. A Scrabble enthusiast who enjoyed watching and feeding birds and wildlife in her yard. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, puzzles, crocheting, ceramics and making ornaments with her grandchildren.
Known for her loving and playful spirit, Theresa loved entertaining her grandchildren - a favorite pastime that brought her immense joy. She had a unique way of turning a regular shopping trip into an exercise routine, much to the amusement of those around her. Traveling with her daughter around Michigan, immersing herself in the breathtaking landscapes of her home state was her favorite thing to do.
