Theresa's obituary
Theresa Kay Rowling (nee: Magee) was born on 1/27/1967 in Boise ID and passed away from natural causes on 3/6/24 in Boise ID. She was the only child of Ken and Joyce Magee. She attended elementary, jr high and high school in Boise, graduating from Capital in 1985. Theresa enjoyed spending her summers camping and fly fishing with her mom and dad all over the state, where she became an accomplished fly fisherman. She worked at Henry's Lake for a summer or two in the lodge where she said "everyone only got 2 kinds of eggs, scrambled or over hard, cause that's all I could make." Cousins will forever cherish memories spent in Lowman at Auntie Bert's cabin. She spent a summer as a nanny in Connecticut and remarked "that was a terrible idea but at least I got to see the east coast."
After graduation Theresa attended the University of Idaho where she joked that she earned her tuition by always winning at the game "quarters." After which she returned back to Boise to start her career. Theresa worked at Computrol, Micron, Western Electronics, Motive Power and Blackhawk, making many lifelong friends along the way.
While working at Computrol and buying parts from Radio Shack, she met Bob Floyd. Bob and Theresa married in Elko NV in 1988, divorcing in 2000. Bob and Theresa did some traveling during their marriage, visiting SoCal/San Diego, Tijuana and New York to visit Bob's brother Mikey. Then along came Travis, born in 1994. She could not have been happier. While working for Micron, the job had her moving to Singapore for 5 months in 1997. During this time Bob and Travis and Treece's mom were able to join her and they got to experience and make wonderful memories in beautiful Indonesia and Malaysia.
Theresa continued to travel taking trips and making memories such as trips to NYC and Cabo with her forever friend, Kelly. In NYC they even woke up bright and early with their sign to be seen on The Today Show. In Cabo she fulfilled a dream of deep sea fishing. She had weekend trips with the "Wild Women's Weekend" gals. One of her favorites was going white water rafting. She spent many trips just she and Travis. I know he will hold those memories forever in his heart. They visited her dear friend Kat in Montana, went to Yellowstone and ventured to Monterey Bay, CA where they went sea kayaking. They rode rides in Disneyland and saw Shamu in Seaworld. Of course, there was always the occasional weekend getaway to Jackpot and once she found "her machine" you didn't see her for the rest of the night.
When Theresa began working for Motive Power she met the love of her life, Don Rowling, professing "I'm going to marry that man some day". And indeed she did. Don and Theresa were married on NYE 2013. Sadly, they only had each other for 13yrs before the passing of Don in May 2023. Her heart was forever broken. Theresa and Don's time together was not long enough, but it was filled with love. They renovated their home together, hosted football watch parties, holidays and birthdays. The family camping trips with the cousins were always the best time and you could always find a BBQ happening on the patio. They traveled to the coasts of Oregon and Washington and visited Vegas a time or two. But her favorite times were the few years they spent over in Georgia when Don's job moved them there.
While down there they went to Florida, Savannah, and South Carolina among other places, but her favorite will always be Jekyll Island. She loved when her and Don's daughter and son in law, April and Chris came to visit them and she was able to show them "her place." She got to accompany her and Don's son, Chris to a Daytona 500 race amongst many other races all over. Don's health brought them back this way where she remained until the end.
She got to spend 2yrs non-stop with her new little love, Carson. He helped fill a void that no one else could. She loved hearing "YAYA" yelled throughout the house if he was looking for her or as he climbed the stairs to come visit her.
They spent their days reading, drawing and watching Bluey. Theresa went to Oregon a few months ago for a couple weeks and visited with April and family. While there, she spent a lot of healing time alone at the coast and stated when she returned, that she felt like she had found her smile again. Theresa, Travis, Cheyanne and Carson were able to take one last trip to Florida and Georgia in December over the holiday where she was able to show them her favorite places.
Carson had his 2nd birthday just a couple weeks before she passed. I know she is so happy to have had that time with them all.
Theresa was a friend to all. She never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with someone in the grocery aisle and have a lunch date with them the next week. If you were lucky enough to have known her, your life was definitely made better because of it. Theresa was always so full of life. Always wanting to do all the things. Sadly, all of that began to slow down and eventually came to a near stop in the last 7 yrs or so. Her zest for life was still there, but her body just wouldn't let her most days. She will be loved and eternally missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father and forever love, Don. She is survived by son Travis, (Cheyanne and Carson), son Chris and daughter April (Chris) Many cousins that were more like siblings, nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family. Dearest friends Kelly, Lisa, Sarah, and Kat amongst an innumerable amount of other friends near and far.
