As far back as I can remember in my life, Terri was always there. She was part of my life from the time I was born until the day she finished her journey here on earth and went to her heavenly home. I can't even express in words how much I miss her. She was my big sistah and always had and will have a special place in my heart. I used to babysit Chris back in DC, and when I eventually moved to L.A., it was Terri who was there for me to help me get settled. We always talked on the phone and I can remember visiting her when she lived in NY, Las Vegas, etc. I miss you her so much! Happy heavenly birthday sis! Lenny

Recently, my Grammy award-winning jazz pianist brother, Billy Childs, traveled with one of my favorite jazz bassists, Alphonso Johnson, to perform at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Hawaii. And it brought back a memory about Terri: In 1975, I moved to D.C. to teach at Howard U. My aunt and uncle, who'd lived in D.C. for 100 years (!), suggested I move into the upscale Tiber Island apartments in Southwest. So, luckily I got into Tiber Island South and, even more luckily, I moved into the apartment across the hall from Terri. At the time, she was friendly with a NY-based Columbia Records exec who used to give her albums. One such album was "Yesterday's Dreams" by an up-and-coming bassist--Johnson--and featuring a latter-day Sarah Vaughn, multiple Grammy awardee, Dianne Reeves, who sang "Love's the Way I Feel About You"--one of my all-time faves by her. Check it out! I can't remember why but Terri gave it to me, and I am forever grateful to her. She was always sweet and kind to me, even giving me my very first surprise birthday party! I will never forget her.

I went to high school with Terri and Mike. We lost touch but reconnected a few years ago. I am grateful for the time. Terri was fun, smart and she loved her family. I am sending prayers and condolences to the family; strength, faith and love during this difficult time.
