Terry's obituary

Terry Lee Patterson 55, passed away suddenly on October 2, at Our Lady of The Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA after a month-long battle with cancer and other health complications.

Terry is survived by his three daughters, Samantha (Kyle) Kramer, Taylor (Daniel) Ramsey, and Hope Patterson, mother Carol Patterson, father Eugene Patterson, sister Cindy (Jarrett) Reid, brother Robbie Patterson, and former wife and mother of his children, Susan Patterson.

Terry was born in Clifton Forge Virginia to Carol and Eugene Patterson. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation Management in 1986 and from North Carolina State University with a dual Master's in Parks Recreation and Tourism Management, Public Affairs in 1990. He also achieved an Associates's Degree from West Virginia Christian University in Christian Theology.

Terry was actively involved as a child and later in professional capacities with 4-H and was an Extension Specialist for North Carolina State University for 4-H, Director at Jamestown 4-H Center in Jamestown Virginia and the Director at Jackson's Mill 4-H Camp and Conference Center in West Virginia. Terry later went on to become the Director at Montgomery Presbyterian Center in Keystone Heights Florida and Camp Director at Camp Istrouma in Greenwell Springs Louisiana. He had a passion for youth camping and demonstrated his commitment to the benefits of the camping experience.

Terry was active as a volunteer for the North Carolina Senior State Games for over thirty years and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was also heavily involved in local church ministry where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. Terry was well known for his big heart and helping hand whenever anyone needed it. He enjoyed watching football games, a game of golf or racquetball, a cup of coffee with his cat Mocha and always had a joke for anyone who needed a smile.
