I have lived and worked in dozens of places throughout my lengthy lifetime. The time we spent in San Diego as a consultant for Sprint was the best experience of my life. I don’t know whether it was the brilliant leadership of Derek Yachanin or just the amazing positive chemistry of the entire office team that made it so special.

Terry and I were both consultants, two of a dozen or so. The entire group worked and played together so well, but I remember the time with Terry most clearly. We explored food and the outdoors together, Terry, Cher and me.

Terry would meet us for Thai, pho or sushi weekly when we were all living in Scripps Ranch. Terry and I both liked to see how hot we could go with the Thai. We had some good runny noses and sweating foreheads. No clear winner.

When Cher and I joined the Sierra Club for hiking and camping experiences, Terry joined in. We were required to hike up a hill climb, I forgot the name of it but it’s near in and steep, to gauge what level adventures we were ready for. Terry hung back with us old folks out of friendship, but finally had to ascend a little faster or end up excluded from some of the more strenuous hikes.
And that’s just it about Terry. Who else would hang out with a couple 15 years older than you and genuinely enjoy it? I don’t drink so it wasn’t the alcohol. It was Terry’s compassion and openness. I honestly love Terry and will miss him dearly. We were going to meet for lunch as we traveled through this spring...

I haven’t told this story well, but it reminds everyone of similar Terry experiences.
