Terry's obituary
Ms. Terry Louise Killermann passed away on March 8, 2024, at Franciscan Health in Michigan City, Indiana. On her last day she was surrounded by her husband Mark, son Nicholas, sister Tina, caregiver Omar, and friend Timothy. She was deeply loved and will be remembered with affection by all who knew her.
Terry was born in 1953 to the late Robert Eugene Lawler and Margaret Elizabeth Hinde-Lawler. She grew up and went to high school in Oceanside, a sunny, coastal town in California. From a young age it was clear that hers was a fun-loving soul who brought joy to those around her. Her early years were filled with many, many friends, some of whom would become life long companions.
After graduating high school she followed some her most cherished friends to the garden island of Kauai, Hawaii. Terry often counted her years on Kauai as amongst the best of her life. It was there that her beloved son Nicholas was born, and later that she met Mark, who for the rest of her life would be the yang to her yin, and ultimately her husband.
After leaving Kauai Terry moved to Michigan. While initially finding it a shocking change from California and Hawaii, over time she fell in love with the Midwest. The changing seasons, the Lake, and the friendly Midwestern people all felt like home to her.
Beyond her husband and son Terry was loved by so many people during her lifetime. Her mother Margaret, her father Bob, her sister Tina, brother-in law David, brother Steve, nephew Evan, and cousins loved her dearly. On her husband's side, Kevin and Julie, Adam and Janet, Dick and Lisa, Susan and Mike, Jeffrey, and many nieces and nephews also loved her dearly. Her gift for making friendships remained strong throughout her life, and some of those friendships were themselves as close as family.
As we remember Terry we celebrate her smile, her laughter, and her readiness with a compliment. We celebrate her love of music, how easily she’d dance, and how quick she was to pull her loved ones to the dance floor with her. We celebrate her sheer grit, how tough she was to the very end, and are inspired to keep our heads up.
All of us who were loved by Terry, whether as family or friend, felt that love. Terry was certain that she would see her loved ones again, vowing to meet us at the rainbow bridge when the time comes.
