Terrance (Terry)'s obituary
Terry was born on September 8, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Mildred and Terrance Duff Sr.
Terry served two years in the army during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Denver, CO, where he met his future wife, Charlotte. The couple returned to Detroit where they raised their only daughter, Kelley.
Terry was passionate about classic cars, sailing, and riding motorcycles. In their younger days, he and Charlotte would ride motorcycles together and occasionally travel to watch NASCAR races.
Terry played an active role in raising and caring for his granddaughters and great-grandchildren, each of whom would say Grandpa Duff was their “first best friend”. All of his grandkids have fond memories of their adventures with Grandpa Duff, from long walks with the dog, to going sailing with Grandpa on Cochiti Lake. Grandpa always knew where the best playgrounds and children’s museums were. Grandpa was even the one who gave his granddaughters their very first tour of the Las Vegas strip when he and Grandma lived there! He spent his last weeks of life visiting with his grandkids, instilling his wisdom and making sure each of them knew how to check the oil and tires on a car.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Terrance Duff Sr.; and his beloved golden retriever, Buck, who will surely be his loyal companion in the afterlife.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Teresa Duff; his daughter, Kelley Cordova of Tucson, AZ; five granddaughters, Jessica Tarango, Gabriella Montoya, Mimi Montoya, Jenni Allen, and Marissa Allen; five great-grandchildren, Zack Terrance Tarango, Logan Tarango, Ariel Tarango, Kaydon Jacquez, and Milayna Gomez; his sister, Sharon Arbanas, and brother-in-law, Fred Arbanas of Kansas City, Missouri; his faithful companion, Patsy the chocolate lab; and a host of beloved extended family members and former co-workers who considered Terry a good friend.
Terry Duff will be laid to rest at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg, NM on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 1 pm. The family will hold a brief graveside memorial.
