Terry Bruce Compton was born on October 14, 1954 in Phoeniz, AZ at Luke United States Air Force Base Hospital to the late elder, Leonard Earl Compton and his thriving wife, Ruth Alice Compton. Terry moved with his family from Phoenix, Arizona to Potosi, Missouri, where he was raised with many family members and friends.

Terry graduated Potosi High School in 1973 and continued his education at Southeast MO University in Cape Girardeau, MO. Terry was accepted into the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1977 and graduated in 1979.

Terry worked as a Radiology Technician and Supervisor for many years at Barnes Jewish Hospital and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Louis before moving into the field of medical supply sales. He then worked his way up to quality control and incident management which includes many different company mergers.

Terry was a hard worker, a giving soul and a fun person. Terry has enjoyed classic cars, four-wheeling and traveling over his 69 years. He always said yes to every travel idea. Terry and Tina bought an RV in 2016, and in those eight years, they travelled all over the United States with their children and grandchildren, making many precious memories, having lots of belly laughs and building unbreakable bonds.

Terry was a cherished husband of Tina Compton, married 17 years. They have resided together in Jefferson County for 20 years and attended Berean Missionary Baptist Church. Terry is blessed with two children from his first marriage. Daughter, Stephanie and husband, Peter Chytla (CHIT-luh) of Fenton, MO and son, Nicholas Compton of Potosi, MO. Through Tina, Terry has two bonus children, Jessica Lee and her significant other, D.J., and Kristen Wilkerson and her husband, Anthony.

Terry was the best papa to Colin “Layne”, Caleb, Katherine, Arianna, Sebastian, Brodey, Corbin, Derrick, Auron, and Jade.

Terry is survived by his mother, Ruth Alice Compton, his sisters, Sandra Thornton and husband, Wayne, and Marcia “Elaine” Boyer. He is also survived by his brothers Greyling Compton and wife, Marcia, Samuel Compton and wife Brittney and Kyle Compton, all of Potosi, MO.

We have experienced such an outpouring of love and support for Terry from the community, Berean Missionary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Ozark Heights Baptist Church, his wonderful coworkers and of course, his loved ones, family and friends who all share in the grief of such an untimely passing.
