I miss my brother so much and still have trouble believing he isn’t in this world any more. My family loved him very much and miss him too. He was truly a special person, a gifted teacher, wonderful father and loving brother. I am comforted to know he is with his beloved Anthony, my parents and brothers. Love you so much!
The reminder email brought to mind a dinner I had with Terry on his birthday a few years back at Parker's Hilltop Brewery here in Clarkston.  Near the end of the meal I secretly told the server that it was Terry's birthday and she brought him a chocolate sundae with a candle in it and a handful of them sang "Happy Birthday."  Then they gave Terry a great T-shirt with the Hilltop Brewery name on it.   He was genuinely surprised.  We laughed  a lot.  Terry had such a major impact on my life in the 50+ years I knew him.  May he forever enjoy his birthday in Eternity at Banquet with the LORD.  I'll never forget all the times we shared.  Cheers, Terry!  Thank you and thank God for you!
I imagine that we all miss Terry a little more today. For Judy and me, Terry’s birthday is especially bittersweet as it marked the time in late August when he visited us in Baltimore for an end-of-summer family gathering just before the beginning of a new school year. Terry was an early riser. Each morning during his stay, I would saunter downstairs shortly after dawn to find him sitting at our kitchen bar with his nose deep in a history book, seemingly so enthralled that I often felt a hint of guilt for having to interrupt him. But like clockwork, he would gently smack the book down on the counter, turn toward me, and in his “by gosh, by gum” fashion, slap his leg and greet me with a hearty “Good morning, David!” We'd then spend the early morning hours sipping coffee while discussing history and myriad other topics until those sleeping, awoke to join us. Those moments I will always treasure.

I was extremely fortunate to have known Terry for over 40 years. Terry made a Great Impact on my life and the life of my family.

I remember Terry daily as my wife can attest when I exclaim "Hokey Fritz" at least once/day.

Thank you Terry & the Caputo family for all the wonderful memories!!!

May He who arose from the dead, Christ our true God, through the prayers of His all-pure Mother; of the holy, glorious, and all laudable Apostles, of the holy and God-bearing Fathers; and of all the saints; establish the soul of His servant, Terry, who has been taken from us, in the mansion of the righteous; give him rest in Abraham's bosom, and number him among the just; and have mercy on us, for as much as He is good and loves mankind.

May Paradise Consume Us!

This would be my brother Terry’s 70th birthday!! I wanted to mark this milestone with a pic of the kid most of you wouldn’t have seen. Look at that face! He was good at everything he did which was really annoying at the time 🥰! He was loved by so many and I miss him like crazy.

Terry was very meaningful to me. He was my teacher in 7th and 8th grade and we painted alongside each other in the summers for 6 years after high school and through college. He became a mentor and close friend and was always gracious to me even when I was being a numbskull (one of his favorite words). I will miss him dearly. My lasting memories will be his enthusiasm for history and his ability to retell the stories in such a captivating way. He loved the Lord and his family. Big hug to Leanne, Bennett, Rosie, and Judy.
By far the best OF HVS!!!! HE WOULD SHARE IN HIS OWN, FROM THE FRONT OF THE CLASSROOM: "AND SO I SAY TO MYSELF, SELF, ...AND GOSH DARNET, PEOPLE LIKE ME." MY heart as a former Student, Anthony, Bennett, & Rose babysitter, admirer of LeAnn as young Girl, young housemate at Childhood household...It doesn't get better than T.C. unless you are my own Father. My heart just aches that I will not see you again....for now. May God's grace and mercy be upon all you leave behind. In so much love & deepest respect, Katie Pinard ❤♥❤
Leanne, Bennet and Rosie you are in our prayers. Terry had an unforgettable impact on many, many lives (including mine). He is much loved and dearly missed.
Terry taught both our daughters at HVCS. What a great sense of humor and made his classroom so much fun for the kids. We are so sorry for the loss of this special man. We are keeping the family close to our hearts and in our prayers.

Terry taught all 5 of our children and has a very special place in all our hearts! He has always shown grace in his speech and such a hard working ethic. He and his team painted our house and it was a joy to have that time with him. We send our most sincere condolences to you Rosie, Bennet and Leanne. We love you so very much and thank you for giving Terry your hearts, love and the rich life, because no one could make him happier than his dear family. Praying for God to embrace and strengthen you all as you surrender Terry to the Lord.
Terry was the 2nd baseman on our slow pitch softball team. We had some great man to man talks which always ended up back to love of God and family. Terry and your family will remain in my prayers . Frank
God bless

Mr. Caputo was able to get through to one of our classmates when no one else had. This student wanted attention, as so many of us do. Mr. Caputo was tough on him, but he conveyed that he was rooting for the guy, that he was on his side. The boy had gifts that he was then able to contribute to our class, knowing that Mr. Caputo truly saw him and counted on him.

He was one of the best teachers I have ever known
Eternal rest grant unto him O' Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.
The Girardot Clan (Cosette ['07] & Michon ['09], Lori & Bernie) enjoyed so many moments and shared so much laughter due to our interactions with Mr. Caputo. His 'point system' was truly memorable!
As parents, we can never fully express the appreciation that we had for him as a teacher to our kids. You were a gem!
Truly, I would not be where I am today without Mr. Caputo, and hearing about his passing hit me hard. Mr. Caputo inspired me to become a teacher. While I thought for awhile that I wanted to teach social studies just like him, Mr. Caputo was also the teacher who helped me finally understand algebra and now, as a science teacher, I pass those skills on to my Physics and Earth Science students every day. If Mr. Caputo hadn't given me the tools to succeed at math, I think I would have given up and I wouldn't have challenged myself to still try my best in physics and other classes; I would have missed out on so many things that I ended up really liking! My sister just graduated from Huron Valley in the spring, so Mr. Caputo has been in our family's lives for 10 years. He will be sorely missed! We are all praying for Mr. Caputo, for the repose of his soul, and for his family.
I have so many memories of times with Terry that it is difficult to choose one. Often times the laugh was on me. Many years ago I received a softball mitt for my 40th birthday. Someone told me that to break it in I should grease it, fold it, and put it under my mattress for some period of time. Terry was a pretty avid player at that time. So in the fall in the school lounge I proceeded to tell him how to care for his mitt. He just stared at me and with that smile of his said, "Really, Gail?" Of course this was in front of all the teachers who could hardly hold themselves together that I would think I could tell Terry something about a baseball mitt - which of course he knew well how to break in. He was fond of telling me that I was good at stating the obvious, with a twinkle in his eye.
The memory of Mr. Caputo will always live on in my mind, and the mind of countless others. He was a great man, and I am heart broken that he is gone. My prayers go out to his family and the repose of his soul.
Very sad to hear of my friends passing. A truly gentle soul, dedicated to his faith, family, profession, and his many friends. We go way back and share countless memories I hope to share with his kids someday. Terry — you will be missed.
My mom was a teacher at HVS while I was a student. Two of my older siblings weren't the best behaved and by the time I got to Mr. Caputo it wasn't always easy for me to feel like just another student. Most teachers either had a stigma against me because of my siblings or expected perfection because of whom my mother was. Mr. Caputo always made me feel equal in every way to the other kids in my class. That made a huge difference. He was by far the most influential teacher I had in 7th and 8th grade!!
