Terry's obituary

Terry Beeler

August 12th, 1945 - June 16th, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Ralph Beeler, our Papasito, our Papaya, our Papa Georgio, a loving father and grandfather, devoted son and brother, and cherished friend. Terry departed this world on June 16th, 2023, in Austin, Texas, leaving behind an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who loved him.

Terry was born on August 12, 1945, in Denver, Colorado, to parents Ralph and Jeanne Beeler. From a young age, Terry demonstrated a passion for sports, excelling particularly in baseball. His athletic abilities were honed during his time at South Gate High School, where he thrived and left an indelible mark on the field.

While Terry's journey as a father began through his role as a stepfather, his daughter Sugar always regarded him as her dad, an everlasting testament to his love and commitment. The greatest surprise of Terry's life came at the age of 42 when he discovered that he and JoNell Beeler were expecting triplets—a remarkable gift that brought immeasurable joy and purpose to the remainder of his days. Terry was not only an extraordinary father but also a dedicated coach, guiding his children's soccer and baseball teams. Moreover, he was an exceptional friend and listener, spending countless hours on the phone with his children, sharing laughter, advice, and unwavering support.

As Terry grew older, his interests expanded to embrace art, theatre, and travel. He delighted in attending his daughter Kaci's improv shows, observing his son Brad coaching his own children, sampling his daughter Sugar’s cooking, and offering guidance and encouragement to his son Brett during his travels and social endeavors. Terry's unwavering dedication to his family was evident in his constant presence and active involvement in their lives.

Terry's endearing qualities extended beyond his role as a father. He was a remarkable brother and son, devoting several years to caring for his mother, Jeanne Beeler, during her final years in California. Following her passing in 2020, Terry was able to return to Austin to be closer to his children, where he continued to create lasting memories during joyful holiday gatherings held in his Austin home, especially around the Cartman-topped Christmas tree.

The past two years afforded Terry the opportunity to fulfill a cherished item on his bucket list—traveling the world with his family. Together, they embarked on unforgettable journeys to New York City, London, Chicago, Ireland, and Italy. Immersing themselves in dynamic cultures, they reveled in the beauty of art museums, castles, ancient ruins, Broadway and West End shows, and indulged in iconic culinary experiences. Terry's curiosity and open-mindedness only grew with age, leaving behind a profound legacy of patience, tolerance, boundless love, and his uncanny ability to spot a bargain, search for the perfect used car, and clean any glass surface to spotless perfection (just try and stop him from it).

Terry Ralph Beeler will forever be remembered as a beacon of warmth and compassion. His gentle spirit and genuine interest in others touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. While his physical presence may be gone, his legacy of love and understanding will live on in the hearts of his daughters Sugar Elisa Brown Zonno and Kaci Lorraine Beeler, sons Brett Cameron Beeler, Bradly Edward Beeler and Lucas Sean Gouldy, son-in-law Mark Zonno, daughter-in-law Hillary Beeler, sister-in-law Vangie Roberts, granddaughters Sophia Zonno, Caraline Gouldy, and Lucy Beeler, grandsons Christian Gouldy, Cameron Gouldy, Caeden Gouldy, and Wyatt Beeler, and nephew Jon Beeler and family. He joins his parents, Ralph and Jeanne Beeler, his brother Barry “Duke” Beeler, his nephew David Beeler, and his best friend Marvin Ladd in eternal rest.

Anytime we see a t-shirt with a pocket, we’ll think of you, Dad.

A celebration of Terry's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, in Austin, Texas. Further details will be provided in due course.
